The Flying Mullet Te Puke Premiers bounced back after their big midweek defeat with gusto with a 89 run over Eves Realty Greerton.
The day started well for the home team as they won the toss and opted to bat first.  An opening stand of 84 between Tai Bridgman-Raison and Iman Singh set the tone and Te Puke were in a good position when Sing was bowled just 3 runs shy of his half century.

Bridgemen-Raison went on to better his 61 from the previous round and was dismissed in the 42nd over for 104.

Gareth Wallace kept the runs flowing with a better than run a ball 62 and a quickfire 20 off 12 balls by Cameron Riley at the end of the innings saw the total grow to an intimidating 274.

Greerton showed they were up to the task, looking comfortable at 54/0 in the 9th over, with openers,Tom MacRury and Ben Lind, putting on an impressive 1st wicket partnership.

The fall of Lind in the 16th over started a chain reaction with 6 wickets falling in 9 overs. With dot balls making up 68% of the balls bowled, Greerton struggled to keep up and contributions from the lower order wasn't enough to come close to Te Puke's winning total.

The Flying Mullet Te Puke 274/7, 50 overs ( Tai Bridgman-Raison 104, Gareth Wallace 62, Iman Singh 47; Nick O'Sullivan 2/43)
Eves Realty Greerton 185/10, 46.5 overs (Tom MacRury 70, Brandan Laurenzi 29, Harrison Perry 26*; Tasman Carsons 4/33)

There were runs aplenty at Smallbone Park where the Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets were putting on a show!

An opening partnership of 271 runs in 48 overs from Fergus Lellman and Marcel Collett put the Cadets firmly in the box seat.

With the daunting task of chasing down 287, Craigs Investment Partners Geyser City opener Vinay Pathania rose to the challenge with an impressive 57 off 39 balls but couldn't find the backup needed to bring the team home. A 9th wicket partnership of 42 between Matty McLaughlin and Williams Cup veteran Crispian Stewart was an innings highlight in what was a 123 run defeat.

Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets 287/3, 50 overs (Fergus Lellman 154, Marcel Collett 116; Matty McLaughlin 2/51)
Craigs Investment Partners Geyser City 164/10, 32.1 overs (Vinay Pathania 57, Matty McLaughlin 20; Mayura Galappaththi 4/54)
Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets won by 123 runs

To say that the Bond & Co Mount Maunganui Premiers are on a roll is the biggest understatement so far in 2022 having won 21 games in a row! The latest victim being the Holland Beckett Law Tauranga Boys College First XI who have been having an outstanding 2nd half of the season.

Winning the toss for the first time in 13 matches gave Tauranga Boys the opportunity to bat first. Playing the slow and steady game with the first run coming in the 4 over, the first XI found themselves 1 down with 73 runs on the board in the 26th over.

Once the 52 run partnership was broken between Seb Heath and Tim Clarke runs were hard to come by. 15 year old Heath achieved his first half century before succumbing to the bowling of Northern Districts Representative, Brett Randell.

Defending their 167 total and breaking the Marlins winning streak was looking promising as quick early wickets saw Mount Maunganui 4 down with 34 runs on the board.

Ben Musgrave (64) partnered up with Brett Randell (70*) to lead a fight back. Some positive yet sensible batting and inconsistent bowling took the Mount within 30 runs of victory. Harsh Patel (4/69) came back on to strike twice and Tauranga Boys could smell blood! 140/4 became 145/7 after a mix up run out but it was Randell that kept his head to guide the Mount home by 3 wickets.

Holland Beckett Law Tauranga Boys College 167/10, 48.4 overs (Seb Heath, Darcy Collett; Henry Conway 4/26, Brett Randell 3/28)
Bond & Co Mount Maunganui 173/7, 36.1 overs (Brett Randell 70*, Ben Musgrave 64; Harsh Patel 4/69, Troy Barnett 2/19)
Bond & Co Mount Maunganui won by 3 wickets

Over in Taupo, the Generation Homes Lake Taupo Cricket Club struggled to get going against a strong Bayleys Central Indians side with almost 75% of their runs coming from ones and twos. Central Indians all rounder Lovely Sandhu leading from the front with his 3 wickets at an economy rate of 2.10 from 10 overs.

Things picked up for Taupo when Michael Mitchell (64) and Ash Wijeillake (61*) combined for 66 and a run a ball 13 from Will Perry helped his team to 182 in their 50 overs. Sandhu then added 22 with the bat before falling in the 14th over with Central 2 down and 65 on the board.

With no one contributing over 35 in the batting line up, the Rotorua lads were in trouble at 164/9 in the 38th over but a 10th wicket stand between Ben Sandford (35*) and Sam Lund (6*) got them across the line, winning by 1 wicket.

Generation Homes Lake Taupo 182/5, 50 overs (Michael Mitchell 64, Ash Wijetillake 61*; Lavely Sandhu 3/21)
Bayleys Central Indians 183/9, 47.3 overs (Ben Sandford 35*, Anish Desai 31; Habib Malik 3/29)
