SEVERAL BATSMEN LOOK TO CONTINUE THEIR BIG STARTS IN THE BAYWIDE T20 TITLE RACE

Several batsmen will look to continue their big starts in the Venture Developments Baywide T20 championship this Saturday (14 October 2023), after posting big numbers on the start of the new season last weekend.

Element IMF Cadets skipper, Andrew Mascall smashed the first century of the new premier season, in posting 106 against Craigs Investment Partners Tauranga Boys College. Mascall smacked his big total off only 52 balls in a innings that included eight big shots over the boundary ropes. However his big score counted for nothing, with the round four match rained out, after the Cadets turn at bat.

This Saturday Cadets will meet Sanford Wall Lawyers Central Indians and Craigs Investment Partners Geyser City, in the next two stanzas of the Baywide T20 competition. Tauranga Boys College will engage in hostilities with Geyser City before sitting out the bye in round four.

Few premier batsmen hit the ball harder and further than Eves Realty Greerton, Tom MacRury. MacRury was in top form in round one last Saturday with 59 from 26 balls in his side defeat of Geyser City.

The other batter to make big inroads against the opposition bowlers with his willow weapon was Generation Homes Lake Taupo, Michael Mitchell, who posted 62 not out in his sides upset of Cadets.

The likely biggest showdown of the weekend will come when Greerton take on the team from the Great Lake region, with both teams, putting their unbeaten start to the T20 title race on the line.

Four time Baywide T20 titleholders Bond & Co Mount Maunganui, made a winning start to their fifth T20 title chase, and will square off with Papamoa on the showcase Alice Johnson Oval, before meeting Central Indians.

Flying Mullet Te Puke, who can date their club history back to 1886, have round three and four appointments with Lake Taupo CC and Papamoa.
