SENSIBLE HOUSEKEEPING RULES AT THE BAY OVAL ODI’S BETWEEN THE BLACK CAPS AND SOUTH AFRICA

Posted: Friday, 17 October 2014

While Bay of Plenty cricket fans can’t wait for the two Black Caps v South Africa ODI’s, at the Bay Oval on Tuesday 21st October and Friday 24th October 2014, there are some sensible housekeeping rules that will ensure a enjoyable day for all spectators.

The Bay of Plenty Cricket Trust General Manager Kelvin Jones says “I can’t wait to see the Black Caps and South Africa walk out on to the Bay Oval on next Tuesday. The bowling of the first ball in the match, will bring to fruition, ten years of hard work to build the countries newest international cricket venue”.

“The conditions of entry at the Bay Oval have been set by NZ Cricket and the Bay of Plenty Cricket Trust. The terms of entry will ensure that everyone that come to the two Black Caps verses South Africa games, have a safe and enjoyable experience watching some of the best players in the world”.

Food and drink that is allowed to be brought into the Bay Oval - are reasonable amounts of non-commercial food for your own consumption and non-alcoholic drinks in sealed plastic containers up to one litre in size.  NO glass or cans can be brought into the Ground.

While alcohol and commercially produced takeaway food is prohibited on entry to the ground, there will be beer and wine and a range of food available for sale inside the Bay Oval.

In order for the cricket fans to keep hydrated during the day-long games, the spectators are allowed to bring in empty plastic bottles, which can be filled during the day using water provided by the venue. Soft-sided chilly bins to carry lunch and snacks are allowable.

In order to ensure that all the cricket fans receive an unimpeded view of the game, low chairs no more than 20cm in height are welcome everywhere on the grass banks. The normal deck chairs universally used in the country at sporting fixtures, can be set up on top of the grass banks in specially designated areas. However the areas are limited and will be available on a first come basis. In other words come early and get one of the best seats in the house.
