Baywide Twenty 20 Title To Be Decided At Fergusson Park On Saturday

The second piece of Baywide premier silverware will be presented on Saturday (20 January 2018) - after the 2017/18 Twenty 20 title has been decided at Fergusson Park in Tauranga.

However before the title decider kicks off at 3pm, the last round of qualifying play to finalize the two sides that will go into battle for the Baywide prize, will take place.

Element IMF Cadets, who will sit out the last round bye have already booked their berth in the T20 Final, after they despatched Lake Taupo CC and arch-rivals Mount Maunganui last weekend. A highlight of Cadets victory over the team from the Great Lake region, was a blistering 93 from former New Zealand Under 19 all-rounder Sean Davey.

The key match in finding Cadets opponent in the final, is the encounter between Carrus Mount Maunganui and New World Te Puke, in the final round of preliminary play. Ben Musgrave posted a vital half-century in his teams hard fought won over Greerton last weekend. The Mount side have a number of genuine young prospects for the future, in their premier line-up, who could play a big hand in getting through to the grand final.

Veteran Te Puke batsman Tai Bridgman-Raison knows all about the pressure of finals cricket and a big innings from the long-time premier player, could propel into the Te Puke. Christian MacDonald has earned his stripes since joining Te Puke a few seasons ago and is a match-winner with both bat and ball.

Eves Realty Greerton, who are currently sitting in fourth place in the standings, will want to grab a place in the third verses fourth playoff. Standing in their way is Bayleys Central Indians, who won two on the trot last weekend, despatching Tauranga Boys College and Lake Taupo CC.

The other early afternoon game sees Cooney Lees Morgan Tauranga Boys College squaring off with Lake Taupo CC.
