The Craigs Investment Partners Bay of Plenty Men's team played host to Waikato Valley in Te Puke for the 2nd to last round of the Fergus Hickey Rosebowl for the season.
Valley won the toss and elected to bowl on a warm Te Puke morning and were rewarded early in the third over, dismissing Niven Dovey without a run on the board. Fellow opener Taylor Bettelhiem suffered the same fate shortly after as he was given lbw after facing 33 balls.
Unable to form any solid partnerships and 6 ducks in their innings, Bay were all out for 108 in the 44th over - Fergus Lellman the top scorer with 31.
Waikato Valley got off to a slow but steady start with the bat with a 32 run partnership between openers Dillon Kelliher and Jed Crerar until Tim Pringle made the first breakthrough, dismissing Crerar in the 12th over. Kelliher followed 2 overs later and bay were back on track. Pringle was on fire with the ball, ripping through the Valley team with the support of his fellow bowlers but a stubborn 7th wicket partnership of 51 between Zak Gibson and Campbell McKegg helped Valley to a lead of 56 going into the third innings.
Bay of Plenty's top order struggled when they went out again to bat with the exception of Bettelheim who accumulated 70 off 119 balls but with wickets falling around him Bay were bowled out for 164 in the 46th over.
With 116 needed for the win, Waikato Valley wasted no time - chasing down the total and winning outright in the 33rd over. Pringle was the standout, coming away with 12 wickets over the two days.
