DAY THREE REPORT – 2 DECEMBER 2020

The rained-out second day, of the ND 2020 Junior Secondary tournament changed the tournament format on day three. Round three of the T20 competition, was completed on Wednesday morning, with the Championship first round contested over forty overs (per  side) taking place in the afternoon.

Bay of Plenty Coastland and Waikato Valley, finished the T20 round-robin play with three wins apiece, which saw them become joint top seeds for the ND Junior Secondary Championship competition.

The T20 preliminary rounds, resulted in two Bay of Plenty Coastland players earning high positions on the batting and bowling honours list. Ethan Chamberlain finished in second place on the batting list with 102 runs, with a top score of 47 not out.  Jake Riley took second place in the bowling stakes with six wickets and a best of 3/31.

Two Bay of Plenty Lakeland players, also finished with prominent positions on the T20 honours table. Tom Yetsenga posted 85 runs with a top score of 48 to finish in fifth spot, with Zach Forster in fourth equal position, with four wickets and best bowling figures of 2/12.

The Bay of Plenty Coastland wasted little time in defeating Poverty Bay in the afternoon 40 over contests. The tournament hosts were bowled out for just 48, with the Coastland side getting home with nine wickets in hand, in the eighth over. Utsav Kumar led the way with an unbeaten 24.

Hamilton set Bay of Plenty Lakeland a very big target, when they were removed with 236 runs in the scorebook. Logan Agnew and Jake Finlay both took two wickets. The game was still in progress late in the day as this report was posted.
