MOUNT MAUNGANUI QUALIFY FOR THE HAVANA EATERY BAYWIDE T20 PLAYOFFS

Bond & Co Mount Maunganui, became the first team to qualify for The Havana Eatery Baywide T20 post section play, when they beat Flying Mullet Te Puke in round two on Thursday (10 December 2020) evening. 

Mount Maunganui, went into the holiday season break in play, with maximum points from their two encounters. Te Puke batted first and reached 120 for the loss of nine wickets, with Imam Singh batting at five top scoring with 43 runs. Bay of Plenty representative bowler Chris Atkinson, used his pace and guile to take three wickets at the Te Puke Domain.

Mount keeper Ben Pomare struck 31 runs, with Niven Dovey posting an unbeaten 30, as their side got home with seven wickets to spare.

Generation Homes Lake Taupo, chased down the 111 run target set by Craigs Investment Partners Geyser, losing just three wickets on the way. The Rotorua side posted 110/6, with Dane Sorrenson and Lucky Singh adding 37 apiece to the score board. Unbeaten scores in the forties, from Michael Mitchell and Caleb Bate, took the Taupo team home to victory.

Eve's Realty Greerton made a successful entrance into the Baywide title race after sitting out the first round bye, being made to work hard in their reply, by Holland Beckett Law Tauranga Boys College. Tauranga Boys Tim Pringle was in top form with the bat with 42 runs, with Daniel Spencer (4/15) and Umesh Ranaraja (3/21) grabbing the majority of the Greerton bowling success. 

Greerton opener Ben Lind set up a good platform for his side with 38 runs, however the Tauranga Boys bowlers took six wickets, before Greerton banked the win points on offer. Isaac White was the pick of the students bowling attack taking three wickets at a cost of 14 runs.
