21 Novemebr - Girls Super 6's Blake Park

The Genera Western Bay of Plenty Girls Super 6’s to take place at Blake Park on Thursday 21st November 2019, will be played out to a historic background with the first ever test at the nearby Bay Oval, taking place between the Black Caps and England.

To celebrate the historic occasion, tickets to the Black Caps verses England encounter will be given to the youngsters to experience the live action of test cricket, at the conclusion of the Super 6’s.

The 2019 Girls Super 6’s has attracted record number of both schools and teams, with 36 teams from 19 Western Bay of Plenty Schools from Katikati to Te Puke – which is a solid increase from last year’s 28 teams from 17 schools.

The Western Bay of Plenty Super 6’s, is the culmination of the GoGirl school visits by Bay of Plenty Cricket Women’s Cricket Officer Rebecca Yee and gives the youngsters the opportunity to put their new found cricket skills into action.

The GoGirl program delivers weekly coaching sessions, to Year 4 to 6 girls in Term One and Four of the school year, through a combination of the fundamental motor and cricket skills program.

“The GoGirls sessions this term have gone really well. We have seen a lot of new girls participating in the programme. They are all looking forward to playing games against other teams. To see this many female cricketers taking part is wonderful and we are busy organising the season to create more opportunities for them” said Rebecca.

The Bay of Plenty regional cricket festivals follow the NZ Cricket philosophy of ‘Making school cricket programs all about fun, participation and developing our players of tomorrow’.

“Our Girls Cricket Festival Days are always full of colour and the day never fails to produce a huge amount of laughter and hilarity, with the girls having fun and enjoying their day of cricket in the sun”. “At this Genera WBOP Super 6’s Festival Day, we are helped by some of our older Bay of Plenty representatives, where the young players will be able to show GoGirls participants where cricket can lead.”
