Primary Boys Rep Teams' Results

The two Bay of Plenty Primary teams entered the annual ND Primary tournament held in Hamilton, with three wins from four encounters in their score books. In the last decade, the ND Primary format has seen teams play two games apiece, before converging on Hamilton for three days of tournament play.

Bay of Plenty Coastland arrived at the Northern Districts Primary finale with wins over arch-rivals Hamilton and Poverty Bay, while Bay of Plenty Lakeland defeated Poverty Bay and lost to the Hamilton Invitation Xl.

The Waikato tournament was blighted by wet weather, with the two Bay sides producing a result in three of the four matches, that were scheduled over the three days play.

Round four saw a Bay of Plenty derby between the two Bay sides. The Lakeland representatives won the toss and were bowled out for the 111, in the nine-aside Twenty 20 contest. Jack Clarke top scored with 35 runs, with Coastland bowler Andrew Friskney in good form taking four wickets at a cost of 16 runs. The Coastland boys lost three wickets on their way to victory, with Daniel Coster posting an unbeaten 26 and Luke Spargo retired when he reached the 20 run mark.

Bay of Plenty tournament highlights, saw the Coastland side cruise to victory against the Hamilton Invitation team, when the Bay bowlers restricted their opponents to 69 for the loss of seven wickets. Luke Spargo (41no) and Utsav Kumar (31no) blasted their team home without losing a wicket, with the win coming of just 29 balls.

Loughie Keaney four wickets for only 8 runs, was a major factor in the Coastland 65 run win against Waikato Valley. Earlier in the competition, Lakeland’s Tom Martin posted an undefeated 43 in his sides win over Poverty Bay, with Billy Syme top scoring with 64 runs for Coastland against Poverty Bay. Coastland bowler Logan Murray also took a four wicket haul returning figures of 4/17 in the Bay sides win over Hamilton.
