Results Day 2

It was a hard day at the office, for the two Bay of Plenty teams at the ND Primary Cricket tournament being played in Hamilton this week (28/30 November 2016).

In the match-up between Bay of Plenty Coastland and Hamilton, the Waikato representatives batted first and posted 162 for the loss of six wickets. Harrison Leach was the best of the Coastland bowlers taking two wickets for 13 runs.

Coastland opening batsmen Dandre Du Plessis, got his team away to a grand start top scoring with 46 runs off 62 balls. The Bay of Plenty representatives were well in the hunt for victory with Toby Taylor and Harrison Leach reaching the twenties. However the Hamilton bowlers upped the ante to bowl their opponents out for 143, to claim a relatively narrow 19 run win.

Bay of Plenty Lakeland also bowled first in their encounter with Waikato Valley. The team from the Waikato country districts, were bowled out for 142, after some enthusiastic bowling from the Lakeland side. Angus Veitch took three wickets for 26 runs, while Vance Harvey, Dylan Tamariki and Ethan Forbes took two wickets apiece.

The Bay of Plenty batsmen simply failed to put any significant partnerships together and were removed for 109, to hand the Waikato side a solid win. Viren Patel was a shining light in his teams reply, top scoring with a hard fought 27 runs, however the next highest score of 12 told the tale of the lack of partnerships.
