Re-Jigged Bay Of Plenty Development Team To Face Hamilton On Sunday

A re-jigged Bay of Plenty Development team, will go into the ND Development competition match against Hamilton on Sunday (20 November 2016), due to three Bay Development players being selected for the ND Under 19 team.

The Bay of Plenty second eleven, enters the ND competition third round with an unbeaten record, after despatching Counties Manukau and Northland.

Hamilton will be smarting after losing their first game of the season, when they failed to chase down Waikato Valleys big score of 293/5 in round one.

Bay of Plenty representative captain Peter Drysdale, will step-in to mentor the side on the day, due to the unavailability of Charles Williams. Drysdale will also play as a lower order batsman and will bowl his off spinners.

Bay of Plenty wicketkeeper Tim Clarke also comes into the side and will bat at three, to give him some current experience of batting up the order, before the ND One-Day tournament in Taupo during December 2016.

The side to square off with Hamilton at Galloway Park in the Garden City also have plenty of youth in its ranks. Luke Tatley and Sean Wakelin attend Otumoetai College and Tauranga Boys College respectively, with Jonty Grigson in his first season out of Tauranga Boys College.

Te Puke premier players Brody Gilroy and Christian MacDonald, are good examples of the progress from secondary school cricket to senior representative cricket, in a couple of seasons. Christian MacDonald top scored with a gritty 60 runs against Northland two weeks ago with Brody Gilroy in cracking form with the ball taking five wickets for 26 runs.
