FERGUS HICKEY ROUND 2 TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Posted: Friday, 28 January 2022

After a covid affected start to the season, representative cricket is back with the Craigs Investment Partners Bay of Plenty Men's team heading north to take on Northland at the Kamo Cricket Ground after a bye in round 1.

Coach Daniel Flynn is looking forward to the team getting back together after such a long stint without any representative cricket and is confident that the amount of cricket played thus far this season will stand them in good stead.

"It's been a long time coming for the boys. It's been good for them to play plenty of club cricket for the first half of the season, but everyone is excited to get back together and have the opportunity to represent the bay against Northland up there."

Northland narrowly lost their first game of the season last weekend against Hamilton but Flynn is not underestimating their ability to win matches.  "We know we have to play well to beat Northland and want to improve every time we step out onto the park."

Captain, Ben Pomare is looking for his side to start strong and continue their form that has got them close to securing a Hawke Cup Challenge

"We haven't played a Ferg Hickey game since last year so we are all pretty fizzed to head up to Northland and secure a Hawke Cup Challenge for this year."
