Versatile Tauranga Williams Cup - Round 3

As January (and the Versatile Tauranga Williams Cup) speeds by you'd be forgiven for only now just realising we are quarter of the way through the competition.

Round 3 brings together old foes with the Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets playing host to fellow 2021 finalist Bond & Co Mount Maunganui at Tauranga Domain.

The Cadets will be full of confidence heading into the game with the mammoth 123 run win against Geyser City last weekend They will be without top run scorer Fergus Lellman and in-form Tim Pringle but still have plenty of firepower in their ranks.

Mount Maunganui are fielding an unchanged side with the exception of Kyle Dovey coming in and ND Representative Brett Randell departing. Ben Musgrave will be wanting to continue leading from the front after his 64 last round while Henry Conway is looking good with ball in hand, snagging 4 wickets at an average of 6.5 against Tauranga Boys last weekend.

Bayleys Central-Indians are on home soil as The Flying Mullet Te Puke head to Rotorua with high hopes of replicating round two's 89 run win. Both teams are coming out on top in the bowling stakes thus far in the competition with Central's Lovely Sandhu and Te Puke's Tasman Carsons and Mikaere Leef all sitting on top of the leaderboard with 5 wickets a piece - this may well be the game where one pulls away to claim the top spot.

The Central Indians will be without player/coach Anish Desai as he is away on representative cricket duties playing for Hamilton in their first Fergus Hickey game of the season vs Northland.

Eves Realty Greerton welcome back Brett Hampton as they endeavour to bounce back after their defeat in round 2. They are hosting Craigs Investment Partners Geyser City who, despite coming close, have yet to win a game against Greerton - will tomorrow be their day?  Father, son duo Cohen and Crispian Stewart are both back in action for Geyser so a win would be extra special for them.

Both the Generation Homes Lake Taupo Prems and Papamoa Cricket will turn up at Alice Johnson Oval in search of their first win of the year. Taupo could almost taste a win last weekend when they came up against the Central-Indians.....a 19 run, 10th wicket partnership from Central got them across the line with 1 wicket in hand.

Papamoa is coming off a bye so will be fresh and eager to get a W up on the board.

Baywide Cup - Quarter Finals

The big weekend of cricket action continues on into Sunday where it is finals time in the Baywide T20 Cup.

The quarter finals sees 2nd and 3rd placed teams in each pool battle it out to face either  Bond & Co Mount Maunganui or Element IMF Otumoetai Cadets in the semis.

The Bayleys Central-Indians skip a weekend of travel altogether as they host Eves Realty Greerton and Papamoa will head to Te Puke Domain in search of that prized semi final spot. Both games will be live scored on CricHQ at the later time of 12pm.
