Three Bay Players Selected for Northern Spirit

Catch the Spirit at Bay Oval in December and January

The SkyCity Hamilton Northern Spirit has named their squad for the 2019-20 season, being the ND Women’s sides 20th in domestic cricket.

The three Bay of Plenty players, selected, come from different spectrums in Northern Spirit experience. Kate Anderson has been a fixture in recent Spirit teams having played 40 One-Day matches and 32 Super Smash games. The talented all-rounder has belted over one thousand runs with a best score of a remarkable 160 not out. For good measure she has taken 53 wickets in the two forms of the game.

Nensi Patel made her Northern Spirit debut at just 14 years of age and has gone on to wear the Spirit uniform on 29 occasions. The right arm-arm medium fast bowler has taken 22 wickets with best bowling figures of four wickets for 19 runs.

Holly Topp is making her Northern Spirit debut, after success with the ND Under 21 Women’s side. Holly is a perfect example of the Bay of Plenty Cricket women’s pathway, having graduated from the Bay of Plenty Secondary Schoolgirls and ND Under 18 and Under 21 Women’s sides, to making her Northern Spirit debut this season.

Bay of Plenty cricket fans, will have the opportunity to watch our local players in action at the Bay Oval during the summer, in Hallyburton Johnstone (One-Day) and Super Smash (Twenty 20) matches.

On the 7th and 8th December 2019, the Northern Spirit will play back to back Hallyburton Johnstone matches against the Central Hinds. On the first day of 2020, the Spirit will meet the Wellington Blaze in Super Smash competition, returning to the Bay Oval on the 12th January, with both matches double-headers with the Knights.
