Craigs Investment Partners Bay of Plenty Development team, has a score to settle, when they square off with Poverty Bay Development at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Sunday (1 December 2019).
Last season, the Bay of Plenty second eleven started their season with a heartbreaking three-run loss to Poverty Bay, before dispatching Hamilton, Northland, Waikato Valley and Counties Manukau, to claim the Basil McBurney trophy awarded to the winners of the ND Development competition.
Bay of Plenty Development Coach Russell Williams “Our last game against Northland was a fighting win on a wicket that wasn’t great. The boys battled for 190, which was below par, but an unbelievable bowling and fielding performance changed the outcome of the game”.
“Looking forward to Poverty Bay this weekend, we have had two close losses to them in the last two seasons, which the guys are sure to have at the back of their minds. We have a score to settle and the encounter is another great opportunity for the guys to express themselves”. “The development group is always growing and learning which is all we can ask”.
The Bay of Plenty selectors, have gone for a largely unchanged team that defeated Northland, with Mikaere Leef coming into the line-up. The Te Puke premier bowler, made four BOPCA Development appearances last season taking seven wickets with best bowling figures of 4/44.
