The Bay of Plenty Under 14 Girls representative team, finished a meritorious second at the Kaipara Invitation tournament played at the Kaipara Flats Cricket Club in Northland, on Sunday and Monday (5th & 6th November 2017.

Bay of Plenty Coach Rebecca Yee, reported that the Bay of Plenty representatives played well and enjoyed what was a new experience of representative cricket, for most of the team.
On day one, the Bay side played Hamilton with the opposition batting first and posting 64/6. Keira Hewison bowled with real enthusiasm to finish with figures of one wicket for just four runs. In reply the Bay girls cruised to victory chasing down the target for the loss of just three wickets. Tash Wakelin top scored with a gritty 14 runs.

Second-up, the Bay side dominated the encounter with Counties Manukau. Batting first, the Bay of Plenty team posted a huge target reaching 106 for the loss of a solitary wicket. Sarah-Jane Stone top scored with an unbeaten 27, with Scout Kennedy also there at the end of the Bay innings on 24 not out. The Bay bowlers restricted their opponents to 75/5, to grab a 31 run win. 
Day Two, brought the only loss of the tournament for the Bay of Plenty representatives, against Northland. The hosts reached 132/9, with Emily Pilbrow in good form with the ball taking three wickets at a cost of just 12 runs. Emily carried on her grand form in the encounter, top scoring with a brilliant 42 not out, as Bay of Plenty were held to 119/8 at the close of their innings.
