Basil McBurney Trophy - 1st March 2020

The Craig's Investment Partners Bay of Plenty Development team, enters their last ND Development competition game against Waikato Valley at the Tauranga Domain on Sunday (1 March 2020) with just one stain of defeat on their season competition record.

Currently sitting in second place on the standings, the Bay side has a theoretical chance of winning the Basil McBurney Trophy if they defeat Waikato Valley and other results go their way.

The Bay of Plenty Second XI, need to go back no further than just one month, for inspiration for victory, over the Waikato region side at the Tauranga Domain. Squaring off with Counties Manukau in enemy territory, the Bay side posted 327 for the loss of eight wickets and then bowled their opponents out for 304, to claim the win points on offer.

Harding hitting batsmen Daniel Price led the way against Counties Manukau, smashing 116 off just 88 balls, with nine 4's and five mighty 6's. Lake Taupo CC premier bowler Habib Malik, was in top form with the ball finishing his allocated overs with three wickets at a cost of 56 runs.

There have been a couple of changes to the team that lost to Hamilton two weeks ago, necessitated by students returning to university studies. Dillon Preston and Blair McKenzie come back into the side with Ben Vyver putting on the wicket keepers gloves for the first time.
