Three Bay Players score hundreds

Three Bay of Plenty cricket players, who are spending the New Zealand winter playing cricket in England were on fire on Saturday 23rd July 2016.

Leading the way was Bay of Plenty Senior Men’s team opening batsman Tom MacRury, who blasted a double hundred for Scholes in the Drakes League, which is believed to be the highest individual Drakes score this season. It is also thought to be the Scholes CC first double century.

Batting at Kirburton -  MacRury was in charge as he posted 226 not out in his sides winning total of 358/2. Tom’s first hundred came from 115 balls with his two hundred coming up from just 159 deliveries.

The Bay of Plenty openers innings was a blur of action with his big score coming in just two minutes short of three hours. MacRury then backed up his massive batting effort claiming three wickets.

The same day Cam Neal playing for Lepton Highlanders, took to the Hall Bower bowling attack that included Mount Maunganui’s Chris Atkinson, to take his team home to victory as he smashed an unbeaten 125 runs. Cam’s side posted 261/4, with the Bay player leading the way and then bowled their opponents out for 177 to claim victory.

Not to be outdone, Greerton skipper Shane Wineti also claimed a ton as he smacked 106no for Northchurch, as his side chased down 170 posted by Wheathamstead. Shanes three figure score was his second in eight days after he took his side to victory against Knebworth the previous Saturday (16 July 2016). Wineti brought up one hundred not out in style with a six as Northchurch successfully chased down 213.
